Senior Instructional Designer

Oversees a team that designs, writes, edits and develops instructional multimedia learning objects for ages 8 – 18 school students.

Requirements:

Any one or combination of
• BEd, DEd, TTC or equivalent: Preferred
• Certificate in Instructional Design: Preferred
• Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Instructional Design (or related field): Preferred
• Learning Analysis and creating learning strategies : Mastered
• Designing Solutions for e-learning / multimedia learning objects : Mastered
• Technical Writing : Mastered
• Communicating in writing with application developers (programmers): Mastered
• Reviewing: Mastered
• English: Fluent
Skills/Knowledge
Project Management - Able to lead a multimedia development team through the assessment, design and development process.
Leadership - Mentoring Jr. Instructional Designers and providing leadership and direction to the team.
Analysis Skills - Works with Subject Matter Experts to understand the learning object requirements and to provide a written analysis of needed content and missing concepts.
Instructional Design Skills - Apply the principles of instructional design to learning object design and development
Creativity - Able to visualize a multimedia learning solution and to communicate it in writing
Multimedia Knowledge - Provides guidance to content experts and developers on functional and usability requirements.
Communication Skills - Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills.
Desirable qualities include willingness to bring forward queries and doubts when requirements are not clear and to proactively suggest general improvements to the design and development process.
Criticism - Able to critically evaluate a learning objective / learning content to quickly determine if it is appropriate for presenting as a multimedia learning object.Comfortable receiving critical feedback on design work.
Time Management - Possesses good time management skills including multitasking on multiple projects.
Documentation Skills - Maintain excellent records including time reporting and sourcing original copyright holders (where appropriate).
Language Skills - Able to write ‘American English’.
Technical Skills - Recommends functional and technical approaches to developing learning objects.Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
